Rock and Roll Angel

Just close your eyes
You're on a caravan to Superman
Sweet home infection
He can kill you with your smile

He'll come to you
But like the wind, he's here today, then gone away
Be born again
Come taste the exhibition

Take a number
Come and join the line
Here's where you will find your
Rock and Roll Angel

Don't close your mind
Just bring insanity and you'll see it all
His lie can blind you
He's now, he's revelation

You've been wishing for the magic sign
Here's where you will find your
Rock and Roll Angel

Perfect strangers in the dark
Waiting for their lives to start
Then behold your shining star
I wonder who you are

Perfect strangers in the dark
Waiting for their lives to start
But just before the dream begins
You must confess your sins, yeah

Soon to see the holy one
Can he really block the sun
Then at last a shining star
Make me who you are

Tony Iommi My Dear Friend Ronnie...

Yesterday 16th May my dear, dear friend Ronnie James Dio passed away at 7.45am LA time. I’ve been in total shock I just can’t believe he’s gone. Ronnie was one of the nicest people you could ever meet, we had some fantastic times together. Ronnie loved what he did, making music and performing on stage. He loved his fans so much. He was a kind man and would put himself out to help others. I can honestly say it’s truly been an honor to play at his side for all these years, his music will live on forever. Our thoughts are with Wendy Dio who stood by Ronnie until the end, he loved her very much. The man with the magic voice is a star amongst stars, a true professional. I’ll miss you so much my dear friend. RIP - Tony

Puta, como duele leer esto de Iommi...

Ronnie James Dio R.I.P.
Published: May 17, 2010

It is with huge sadness we hear that Ronnie has lost his battle against stomach cancer, and our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Wendy and family at this terrible time. From his earlier years in Elf, Black Sabbath and Dio, right through to his most recent days fronting Heaven and Hell, Ronnie, time and again, proved his genius as a frontman, always giving his all to his fans and his music. Ronnie was not ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ an incredibly gifted singer but also a wonderfully warm, intelligent and generous person and this shone through both on and off stage leaving a positive mark on everyone he came into contact with. A longstanding friend of Maiden, we played many shows together over the years and we will all miss him greatly.
The world has lost an irreplaceable talent and, first and foremost, one of the finest human beings you could ever wish to meet.
Steve, Bruce, Adrian, Dave, Janick, Nicko and Rod

RAISE THE DEVIL HORNS FOR DIO \m/

One more promise
We can tame the sun
And then we'll shine forever

Falling's easy
Rising will never be

So we must rise together

Sons Of Liberty: JON SCHAFFER STATEMENT REGARDING THE PASSING OF RONNIE JAMES DIO

"I just wanted to write a note about Ronnie James Dio and how much I will miss him.

Ronnie was the most genuine person I've ever met in the music industry. I think we've all had run-ins with our childhood heroes, and sometimes it can be a disappointing experience. This was definitely not the case with Ronnie, he was a wise, kind, and special person, and a dear friend that will be greatly missed.

Rest in peace brother, your spirit and music will continue to inspire generations to come."

One day in the year of the fox
Came a time remembered well
When the strong young man of the rising sun
Heard the tolling of the great black bell

One day in the year of the fox
When the bell began to ring
Meant the time had cometh
For one to go
To the temple of the king

There in the middle of the circle he stands
Searching, seeking
With just one touch of his trembling hand
The answer will be found

Daylight waits while the old man sings
Heaven help me
And then like the rush of a thousand wings
It shines upon the one
And the day had just begun

One day in the year of the fox
Came a time remembered well
When the strong young man of the rising sun
Heard the tolling of the great black bell

One day in the year of the fox
When the bell began to sing
It meant the time had come
For the one to go
To the temple of the king

There in the middle of the people
He stands
Seeing, feeling
With just a wave of a strong right hand
He's gone
To the temple of the king

Far from the circle at the edge of the world
He's hoping, wondering
Thinking back from the stories he's heard
Of what he's going to see

There in middle of the circle it lies
Heaven help me
Then all could see by the shine in his eyes
The answer had been found

Back with the people in the circle
He stands
Giving, feeling
With just one touch of a strong right hand
They know
Of the temple and the king

Ronnie, we miss you...

Roadrunner UK Says Goodbye To Ronnie James Dio
21396.jpg

"It is with a heavy heart that we here at Roadrunner UK post the news that yesterday (May 16th) at 7.45am, HEAVEN & HELL vocalist Ronnie James Dio passed away after losing his battle with cancer. Having worked with Dio during the promotion of ‘The Devil You Know’, we came to know Ronnie as not ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ the heavy metal legend, but also as a warm hearted, genuine, fun person and we are deeply, deeply saddened to hear of his passing. We send our deepest sympathies to his family, band-mates and friends and especially to Wendy Dio.

It was Wendy who yesterday broke the news of Ronnie’s passing, posting the following statement on the Official Dio Website:

"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever".

Today, band-mate and guitarist Tony Iommi posted a statement on his website voicing his “total shock” at Ronnie’s passing:

“I just can’t believe he’s gone. Ronnie was one of the nicest people you could ever meet, we had some fantastic times together. Ronnie loved what he did, making music and performing on stage. He loved his fans so much. He was a kind man and would put himself out to help others. I can honestly say it’s truly been an honor to play at his side for all these years, his music will live on forever.”

Ronnie’s musical legacy obviously encompasses not ************SPAM/BANNEAR************ his work with Heaven & Hell, but also Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and his own band Dio. His career includes three truly classic Metal albums – Rainbow ‘Rising’, Black Sabbath ‘Heaven And Hell’ and Dio ‘Holy Diver’. As well as being heralded as one of (if not the) most powerful voice in heavy metal, he is also widely credited with originating the ‘devil horns’ hand gesture many of us hold aloft at the gigs we attend.

It was late last year, shortly after we last saw Ronnie at Sonisphere, that Wendy informed us and his fans that Dio had been diagnosed with stomach cancer. We all looked to the future and Ronnie making a full recovery and heading back to the UK for High Voltage. None of us believed that someone so full of life and passion could be struck down so cruelly. It’s a devastating loss.

Goodnight Ronnie James Dio. Rest In Peace.

PEARL JAM Pays Tribute To RONNIE JAMES DIO - May 18, 2010 A BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor has submitted the following report:

"Just got home from the PEARL JAM show in Boston, Massachusetts.

"I arrived at the [TD] Garden about 45 minutes before the opening act, BAND OF HORSES, hit the stage. I was pleasantly surprised to hear music from the entire career of Ronnie James Dio (RAINBOW, DIO, BLACK SABBATH) loudly playing over the house speakers the entire time! And in an even cooler moment, during the closing of the 'Alive', [PEARL JAM] finished up the song by belting out the unmistakable riffs from BLACK SABBATH's track 'Heaven And Hell'!

"Cheers to PEARL JAM.

"Long live rock n' roll.

"Dio will be sorely missed."

Fan-filmed video footage of the "Alive" performance from last night's (Monday, May 17) PEARL JAM concert can be viewed below.
