Discografia de Anthrax

Anthrax fue creado a principios de los ochenta por el guitarrista Scott Ian, el baterísta Charlie Benante, el bajista Dan Lilker, el guitarrista Dan Spitz y el cantante Neil Turbin. Después de firmar con Megaforce Records, lanzaron su primer LP, Fistful Of Metal, en 1984. En 1985 sacaron su primer disco, Spreading The Disease, y su formación se volvió estable con el ingreso en la banda del cantante Joey Belladonna y el bajista Frank Bello.

Casi de inmediato Anthrax mutó mezclando a partes iguales Hardcore y thrash metal con una generosa dosis de humor. Mientras que las otras grandes bandas del género (Metallica, Megadeth y Slayer) eran mortalmente serios, Anthrax escribía canciones sobre comics y novelas de Stephen King.

En 1987 el tercer EP de Anthrax, Among The Living, fue aclamado por amantes del género. Es normalmente considerado el mejor de toda su carrera y contiene todos los elementos típicos de un álbum de Anthrax. "I am The Law" es un homenaje al Juez Dredd, "Efilnikufesin (N.F.L.)" sobre la adicción a las drogas y muerte de John Belushi, la políticamente correcta "Indians" y el himno pogo "Caught in a Mosh" son aún considerados clásicos de la banda. Más adelante, ciñéndose al estilo thrash de Among The Living mantuvieron su éxito con su disco State of Euphoria en 1988, que fue duramente criticado, y su mayor éxito comercial en 1990 con Persistence of Time.
